Coinciding with tonight’s actual new moon in the night sky, Walmart announces the official opening of its “Twilight Saga Shops” today in all Walmart stores across the country. The unveiling of the shops kicks off the preparation for the upcoming DVD release of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” at 12:01 am March 20. Last year, the first Twilight DVD release broke historic sales records as hundreds of thousands of fans joined lines and midnight retail parties to be among the first to purchase their copy.
Walmart is planning for another big weekend, preparing all 24-hour stores to entertain fans shortly after twilight, Friday evening. “Twilight-themed” giveaways will go to the first 100 in line. Additionally some stores will have more giveaways to fans that can prove their “Twilight trivia” knowledge in the run-up to the midnight release. Among the many offerings in its Twilight Saga Shops, Walmart will bring out at midnight the “New Moon Ultimate Fan Edition” — the only DVD to be released with a “sneak peek” of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.” Last year “Twilight” became one of the most pre-ordered DVD movies in Walmart history, and the most successful DVD release event.
The “Twilight Saga Shops” in Walmart stores provide a dedicated shopping experience for fans to bite into a variety of “Twilight-themed” clothing, jewelry, and merchandise. Inspired by the competition between Edward and Jacob for Bella’s heart, separate sections for Edward and vampire-fan items or Jacob and wolf-fan items are featured.
The “Twilight Saga Shops” are open now through mid-April and offer an incredible list of items at a great Walmart value, such as:

Walmart announced today it will be the only retailer to carry The Twilight Saga: New Moon Ultimate Fan Edition on standard DVD, and Blu-ray, with never-before-seen footage from the upcoming The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Walmart also will feature “Twilight Saga Shops” in stores – a dedicated shopping experience for Twilight fans to bite into a variety of Twilight-themed clothing, jewelry, and merchandise, including new items to show their wolf- or vampire-fan pride.
Fans can pre-order The Twilight Saga: New Moon Ultimate Fan Edition on DVD or Blu-ray, as well as the national two-disc Special Edition DVD or Special Edition Blu-ray, today at Walmart.com. With the new movie and 50 minutes of extra footage and interviews, The Twilight Saga: New Moon Ultimate Fan Edition also contains an exclusive, 7-minute sneak peek of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. It begins with an exciting behind-the-scenes look at the production of the newest film. New interviews with stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, as well as with series-creator Stephenie Meyer, are integrated with revealing on-the-set footage of some of the key scenes and sets from the upcoming movie. This first-look at The Twilight Saga: Eclipse concludes with the world premiere of an actual scene from the upcoming film.
